Taiwania is a cross-cultural music ensemble formed by Indigenous nose flute player and vocalist Kiwa Takishusungan, Tsugaru shamisen performer Zuiko (Ni Jui-Hsin), and violinist Huang Tai-Yuan.

Named after a tree native to Taiwan, Taiwania symbolizes deep roots, upward growth, and harmonious coexistence in diversity. The ensemble centers its work on the music of Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples, weaving in improvisation to create a sound that embodies the country’s diversity and its profound cultural connection to the land.

Through Indigenous musical traditions, Taiwanese folk music, and songs associated with Taiwan’s democracy movement, Taiwania gives musical form to Taiwan’s layered histories and sense of self. As Taiwanese artists based in Finland, the ensemble brings these narratives to international audiences, affirming Taiwan’s distinct presence on the global cultural stage.
